| Being a
Science teacher at a leading school in Colombo,
her repeated advice to the students was
to become inquisitive towards nature and
to explore its hidden secrets - a quest
she embarked upon in her post teaching years
as a beautician.
Born with natural beauty, cosmetology
or beauty culture weren’t Mrs. Kotelawala’s
major interest. What led her in the path
of beauty culture is an interesting story
that is best said in her own words. “I
was never a traditionalist at best; I
demanded to understand whatever was behind
every work deed and action. After my wedding,
my husband and I went on a vacation to
Europe and I witnessed, whereas numerous
women embraced any available beauty products
in the market. In the Western cultures,
it was different. Sellers knew what they
were selling and the buyers knew why they
were purchasing and their purposes. While
in England, I educated myself with all
the available beauty products and their
effects. It created an urge and an interest
to learn more and to serve my country
with the knowledge I gained”.
After her return to Sri Lanka, she studied
under the most prominent Beauty Culturists
at that time and furthered her knowledge
on the subject by becoming qualified in
England, Australia and New Delhi up to
the Post Graduate level. She holds several
Diplomas in Beauty Culture from highly
accredited Institutions in the above countries.
The service she is rendering to her
society, her utmost motive - is apparent
by the vast number of well trained and
qualified students that graduate from
the Swinitha Kotelawala Beauty
academy and the number of clients
who are satisfied beyond their expectations
– in becoming and being beautiful. |
